The One Thing
I often hear from people, “You are all over the place. How do you do it? When do you have the time to do everything that you do?”
When I hear that I pause to think for a moment, am I trying to do too much in a days time? I mean, really. I have two kids at home, one in high school and one not even in kindergarten yet. I run a business with three employees and partner with my husband to maintain our home. Being a wife and mom is my number one priority, yet somehow I still manage to run a business that turns a profit. Don’t get me wrong. I live in a perpetual state of tiredness. Lately however, I am attributing most of that to my age. So far my 40’s have not been very good to me health-wise. Yet I still manage to get quite a bit done each day. What is my secret?
When I started my business, I worked a lot of hours. I still do but it seemed as though I never stopped working back then. I came very close to getting burnt out more than once and finally made the decision that changed everything. I got some professional coaching to help me sort through the myriad of business decisions that were sucking up all my time. I was working like crazy but never seemed to be able to get anything done. My good friend, John Butruccio, of Success Paradigm, spent about six months with me helping me work through how I was sabotaging my own business. The culprit? The illusion of scarcity. The limiting belief that there is only so much money, so much time, and so much love to go around.
Do you ever catch your self saying things like “my plate is full”, “I have no more bandwidth”, “I can’t possibly commit to anything else”? How about, “I’m so tired all the time”, or “I can never seem to make it to my kid’s basketball games”? Don’t feel bad. Trust me, I was right there with you.
How you overcome scarcity will be different for you than it was for me. Everyone has their own limiting beliefs from their own experiences. But until you decide that you and your family are worth the investment of quality coaching those limiting beliefs will stop you from success in every single aspect of your life. This includes your health, family, spiritual life, and financial success. It is impossible to work through these issues by your self. It’s time to stop bullshitting yourself and get serious about life.
