Today I began helping a client set up a new office location. Not brand-new, just new to them. So I spent quite a bit of time moving office furniture, sweeping the floor, wiping down desks and chairs, and even cleaning out a coffee machine. I made a trip to Walmart to buy cleaning supplies, I cleaned the bathroom, and started to work on their paperwork system. Not exactly what you picture a marketing consultant doing for a client, but quite honestly I had a lot of fun getting things organized for him today.
Why am I even writing about it? That is a good question. It comes down to helping somebody with their business no matter what that looks like. I truly wish my client success in his new location and if that means I spend a couple days cleaning and moving equipment and furniture, then that’s fine.
My client seemed a little apologetic about the cleanliness of the space. It really didn’t bother me in the least. He did offer to wash my car at the end of the day and I of course accepted. The start of a great client relationship.
