We’ve all heard the expression, and many of us would not be where we are today if it weren’t for the important connections we’ve made over the years. So why harp on networking?
When it comes to networking, there are two types of small business owners:
-There are those who live and breathe their business, both in the office and out. They chase down leads everywhere they go, always looking for chances to grow.
-There are the ones who have gotten comfortable with the way things are. They established their business through hard work and great connections, and that’s where they stopped.
For most people, solid leads don’t fall from the sky. This is why it is so important to get your name “out there” by using every tool you can. Attending networking events can be some of your greatest opportunities to find leads, even if it’s just “a guy who knows a guy”.
If you begin to find that the “business card method” isn’t quite cutting it, change gears and keep on rolling! Start putting the “net” in network, and use these simple, successful tools to network in the digital age…
1.) Have a small budget set aside to promote your Facebook page with special offers or services
2.) Tweet often, and follow others!
3.) Create a YouTube account and post video blogs in addition to your regular blogging schedule
4.) Keep your website current and optimized so you can be easily found
5.) Tie your social media together. Reference your website, Facebook, and blog regularly through all your social media avenues
Finally, get your team on board! Encourage your staff members to search for leads, from your salesmen to your marketing team. After all, it’s all about who you know!
